Visiting your loved one at South Oaks

Our patients’ families and loved ones are an integral part of treatment at South Oaks Hospital. We welcome them to visit at the patient’s discretion, without regard to legal relationship, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

While South Oaks Hospital does not have open visiting hours, we try to allow visitation whenever possible, as long as it does not interfere with our patients’ participation in treatment.

We ask that you follow a few guidelines to help ensure your privacy and safety, and that of our patients:

  • All visitors must present photo identification and provide the patient’s full name and South Oaks unit in order to obtain a visitor’s pass, issued by the receptionist.
  • If you are planning to visit a child or adolescent patient, your name must be on a list of approved visitors. It is strongly recommended that the patient’s parent or guardian provide the names of all approved visitors during the admission process, and communicate any updates to the case coordinator prior to a visitor’s arrival.
  • Patients may receive only two visitors at a time. When warranted, exceptions may be made at the discretion of the unit.
  • Personal property is not allowed onto the unit. For your loved one’s privacy and safety, please secure all cell phones, cameras, recording devices, purses or backpacks and other personal items prior to entering the building. Weapons are never allowed.
  • Any items brought for the patient will be reviewed by staff to ensure patient safety. Note that plastic bags are not permitted on our units. For the safety of our patients, please use paper bags instead.

If you have any questions about our policies for visitors, please speak with a staff member during your visit.
